Lemhi’s focus hasn’t wavered in more than a decade of investing. We constantly study the health care industry to understand its problems and identify promising solutions. We listen to entrepreneurs, academic researchers, policy makers, and industry leaders, balancing what we hear with what we see in the marketplace.
The experience we’ve gained reviewing thousands of companies has made us much better at recognizing patterns. Once we understand the nature of a challenge, we develop a hypothesis and search for people and ideas to address it. That’s the basis for my role: to take our point of view to the market, find companies whose ideas and business models offer promising investment opportunities, and then bring them to the team to consider.
Collaboration is an important value here in both how our team works together and how we work with the companies in which we invest. We are very clear and direct about what we look for and how we will challenge and support our portfolio company leaders. From start to finish, there is nothing passive about our approach, and nothing held in reserve. When we invest, we are committed intellectually, financially, and operationally. It’s the best way we’ve found to propel businesses that will effect change.
